The “FUN” or joy of this experience

of one’s

PANT FIT &
SEWING
FOUR-DAY WORKSHOP
|
| Learn
to fit any style pant and to sew up all those details. Pati Palmer has fitted over 60,000 derrieres in pants in the past 20-plus years. She learned that measuring wasn’t enough, so she developed the “try-on” method. And, because she works closely with pattern companies, you will gain information you never expected to learn.
We will analyze your body and determine
your size. We will fit you in tissue and then show you how to alter it for your figure. You will then cut it out in fabric and pin the pants together. Then, we will fine tune the fit in fabric. You will then learn to sew any style pant including a trouser and pull-on pants. We’ll show you how to sew a variety of details including pockets, pleats, zippers, and waistbands.
We will share with you how similar all the pattern companies are, not how
different they are as many claim. We will let you try on a similar pant style sewn in every brand. You will see that if you have full thighs in one or a dropped derriere, you will have it in all of the others. This will EMPOWER you to
sew any pattern design you choose and make it fit.
We include the latest Palmer/Pletsch basic pant-fit and trouser-sewing
pattern.
Take pant fit again.
Returnees may fit and sew more styles, add challenging details and/or watch others being fitted. We’ll show you expensive designer pants for ideas.
On your first return visit to this pant workshop we will check your fit and then you can sew for FOUR straight days. We will help you experiment with different fabrics, waistline options, and introduce you to designer details. Fit and sew any pattern style or redesign a pattern--widening a tuck or adding a stirrup or converting to elastic—it’s your choice. You might want to try our latest no-gap vertical welt pocket. We’ve developed great instructions. The main goal will be to perfect fit and your pant sewing skills.
And again.
Each time you return to Pant, you’ll build on your fitting and sewing skills, and new challenges in details and/or design will be added. You will love sewing with the experts as they guide you to fitting and sewing beautiful pants. If you teach pant fit, you will see even more body shapes and improve your skill in fitting others. You’ll become a master in pants!

"Almost
done" trousers modeled at the October 2009 Pant workshop.

Six of
the students used a size 16 pattern and look how different they all are. It
would be difficult to make a more perfect pattern that would fit ALL size
16s. This is why Palmer/Pletsch patterns have alteration lines on the tissue
to make adjusting easier.
