
WORKSHOP LOCATION
The workshops are held in our spacious classroom in a wing of the
Fabric Depot, a wonderful fabric store in southeast Portland, close to hotels and the airport. The Fabric Depot has a huge selection of fashion, quilting, and home decorating
fabrics. For "shopping convenience" you may run a tab, which
means no waiting in lines for purchases, and they will ship your
purchases home. (Some workshop attendees even ship their laundry and pack
their fabrics!)

WHAT'S INCLUDED
The hotel provides transportation to and from the workshop each day. In the classroom we offer coffee,
water, and snacks, and, at midday, a wonderful lunch.
A special graduation ceremony and dinner will be held at the completion
of each workshop. Other dinners are on your own.
Notebooks and most sample-making supplies are included. We have some
Viking/Husqvarna machines to loan if you cannot bring your own.

If you have the Palmer/Pletsch book that is being used as a reference
for the class, bring it. We have found that most people have the books,
so we are no longer including them. (It is a way to keep our prices the
same as they have been.) We recommend the spiral versions. Fabric Depot
does carry them

GRADUATION
Graduation
is marked by a lovely dinner. It’s a time to socialize
in a relaxed atmosphere and share the whys of your sewing, your
personal interests and your aspirations. In a final ceremony,
completion certificates will be awarded during this special
graduation night.

The 2011 and 2012 rates are $88 for single/double rooms, $98 for a
triple, $108 for a quad, and $189 for suites, plus
7% tax for single or double occupancy. You may
request a queen, king, or double queen.

These special rates are not available through the Monarch
website. (The regular rate is $169.) If you have a
roommate, please give them that name as well.
The hotel has a
restaurant, gift shop, and a shuttle bus that will
ferry you to and from the airport and the classroom at
the Fabric Depot as well as to nearby malls for
no extra charge. It is across the street from
one of our best shopping malls in our area with a
Nordstrom's and a Macy's and is also near a huge
discount mall. The hotel will also give you one 10%
discount coupon per day toward dinner at their
restaurant. All rooms have Serta Pillow Top
beds and upgraded linens. You can get a pass for the
local athletic club that is nearby.
You can go to the
hotel's web site to see the ammenities

reservations on the site and get the special rate.
Remember, for your special rate,
you must call the hotel at 1-800-492-8700
and tell them you are with Palmer/Pletsch. If
you have a roommate, please give them that name as

IN SUMMARY:
You will get the special
Palmer/Pletsch rates plus 7% hotel tax which includes a
10% off dinner daily at Sam’s Restaurant right in the
hotel for each person in a room.
To get the special rate you
must call or e-mail the hotel directly to request the
“Palmer/Pletsch rate,” which is not available by
registering online on the hotel website.

rates are better than at the airport due to airport

hotel includes 192 rooms on 3 floors with elevators,
restaurant and lounge and gift shop. The interior rooms
face a courtyard and waterfall and are quieter.

It
also has an outdoor seasonal swimming pool. There is an
adjacent 20-mile paved jogging path and guest discount
passes to nearby East Side Athletic Club.

Tax
Deduction!
An income tax deduction is allowed for
expenses of education (including registration fees, travel, meals and
lodging) undertaken to maintain and improve professional skills
(Treas. Reg 1.162-5 Coughlin vs Commissioner 203 F2d 307).

Workshop
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a
scheduled workshop, notify Palmer/Pletsch at least 30 days in advance of
the class to receive a refund of your tuition less the non-refundable $100
deposit. For cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop, tuition
fees are not refundable. All fees, minus a $100 deposit, will become a
credit toward a future workshop, or you may send someone in your place.
Palmer/Pletsch reserves the
right to cancel any workshop up to 30 days prior to starting date if
minimum enrollment is not metd. All deposits and fees will then be
refunded. Please feel free to contact us for further information or
