FIT

We teach the most practical, logical and useful fit methods on the planet!

We do hands-on fitting and continue to be innovative and fine-tune our skills. We teach what works best and do very little measuring because measuring does not tell you all you need to know about the body you are fitting.

Learning to fit yourself and others is a process. It is a constant challenge because, as fashion changes, you need to decide the best approach to alterations for each new design. Our ongoing fit programme will help you MASTER FIT!

You will go home with your own personal body map and the ability to alter ANY fashion pattern. Try on our fitting shells to find your correct size and bra cup size. Then use the Palmer/Pletsch classic fit pattern, McCalls 2718 to achieve your own body map.

To introduce you to fashion fit, you will fit the shirtdress from McCall’s 2718 and then your own fashion patterns.

FABRIC SHOPPING TOUR

Free to all workshop participants.

Free to all workshop participants and available before or after each workshop (lunch not included). The tours are shop ‘til you drop fabric store tours of Cabramatta. Join in and visit my favourite fabric haunts. Enjoy a great girls’ day out.

PANT FIT & SEWING

There is more to fitting pants than measuring. We have developed the “try-on” method which will save you time.

You will try on a basic fitted pant (we have already made up all nine sizes) and then analyse your body shape and determine alterations.

Learn how to tissue fit and alter patterns to your figure. Cut out and pin fit to fine tune your alterations and then learn to sew any style pant including a trouser, jeans and pull-on pants.

We’ll show you how to sew a variety of details including pockets, pleats, zippers and waistbands.

We include the very popular Palmer/Pletsch basic pant, trouser and jean pattern --  McCalls 9233.

This will equip you with the skill to sew any pattern design you choose and make it fit.

TAILORING
Prerequisite is FIT.

Tailoring a jacket requires the highest skill level of all.

All your sewing will improve after you learn to tailor. This workshop starts with a “fit check." You will learn cutting and marking accuracy, interfacings and proper fusing, fit, shoulder and chest shaping, shaped darts, careful trimming and quality pressing, sleeve heads, bound buttonholes, pockets, linings and perfect hems.

¨    Bernina sewing machines, overlockers and pressing systems supplied in Pant & Tailoring.

TEACHER TRAINING

If you want to learn to teach sewing, learn from the best. Students graduating from the teacher training segment go away confident and ready to teach the topic in which they have just trained. They also qualify to apply for certification.

The session includes business tips, how to teach the Palmer/Pletsch system of sewing, how to use slides, and other presentation skills and ideas for advertising and promoting yourself and your classes. We give you class formats, pricing suggestions and much more.

If you are teaching or aspire to teach fashion sewing classes, Teacher Training will help you become more professional. It will pay for itself in your increased income. You will benefit by using the Palmer/Pletsch name and reputation to help build your classes and network with hundreds of Palmer/Pletsch teachers worldwide.
