Hundreds of students from around the world have attended our sewing workshops. Like a sewing vacation, you’ll share camaraderie with other sewers from all walks of life from surgeons to CEOs to fabric store owners, homemakers, dressmakers, attorneys, farmers, and teachers while you are taught expert sewing techniques and the tissue-fitting method of pattern fitting.
You will be guided by the qualified Palmer/Pletsch sewing teaching team. We have been teaching sewing and fitting sewing patterns for over 35 years, focusing on quality garments sewn with limited time. We have worked with and influenced major pattern companies, bringing our message to you along with our fashion sewing books and Learn How to Sew DVDs. We want to PERSONALLY share our sewing knowledge with you in these workshops. AND, we learn from you as well, hopefully making us better teachers.
SEWING WORKSHOPS: BEGINNING SEWING 4-DAY TEACHER TRAINING – Portland, Oregon
August 11 - August 14| $60 - $750
Learn to teach four levels of beginning fashion sewing.
You will make the notebook samples and four garment projects that you will be teaching. Class includes business basics such as how to market your classes and includes camera-ready originals for you to reproduce. Teachers completing this course are having a very HIGH success rate in filling classes and in teaching.
Because beginning sewing is not being taught in most schools today, there is a need for beginning sewing teachers. Come train with Palmer/Pletsch. You will BE a beginner as Janet Corzatt takes you through one four- or five-week level per day.
The course includes making samples of all important sewing techniques for a notebook as well as a butcher apron, kimono robe, shirt-style pajama top, and pull-on pants using the new patterns developed just for making teaching easier.
You will receive camera-ready originals for teaching all four levels of beginning sewing. You will also be given one each of our new "Learn to Sew" patterns, which will make teaching Beginning Sewing easier. Over two years were spent testing the guide sheets. You may purchase the patterns wholesale to use in your classes and include them in the price of the classes or as a kit fee. This workshop will ensure that you know the basics of fashion sewing. In addition, teaching techniques, business guidance, and marketing ideas will be part of the lunchtime discussions.

OTHER OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES
FABRIC SHOPPING TOUR ONE DAY 8/15/17
This is an optional program offered the day following the workshop. We have so many unique fabric stores—more per capita than most cities in the world. The day after the workshop Pati Palmer and Marta Alto will be your guides transporting you to and helping you shop at our best stores. Lunch at one of Portland's culinary experiences is included. We will pick you up at the hotel at 9:15 to take you to fabric stores, lunch, and back to hotel by 6:00. (A minimum of 4 people is needed to offer the shopping trip.) The price is $60.00.
This is the original fit pattern that was used in Palmer/Pletsch fit workshops to create your “body map.” For those who want to make a "muslin" out of gingham before sewing other garments, this is the perfect pattern.
Straight or boot legged, below waist jeans have side front pockets with inside pocket, front fly zipper, back yoke, back pockets, waistline with button closure, belt carriers and narrow hem. The guidesheet includes fit tips and sewing jeans details. See Marta fit and sew jeans and follow along with her on our DVD Jeans For Real People. An expanded jeans chapter is in our latest book Pants For Real People and includes a sewing order that you'll love.
