PANTS FOR REAL PEOPLE Second Edition — with coil binding
by Pati Palmer and Marta Alto — Updated in 2019
Forget the fitting shell! Toss the tape measure after taking just one measurement! Now, with just the hip measurement and the help of Pants for REAL People, by Pati Palmer and Marta Alto, women of all sizes, shapes, and ages can try on the tissue-paper pattern to see how to fit the pants they sew. Tissue-fitting, a technique devised and perfected by Palmer/Pletsch over three decades of hands-on teaching, has never before appeared in print for pants.
PANT FITTING PATTERN B6845:
This is our updated pant fit teaching pattern, transferred from McCalls (M6910) to Butterick. I waited for years to redo our pant fit teaching pattern, compiling a long wish list. One was to find a way to have more sizes in one package so our pant fit instructors would never run out of a size. This new pattern has the most complete pant fitting guidesheet I’ve ever written, including the new pant fit order to help you stay on track. That new fitting order is also in the second edition of Pants For Real People. This pattern gives you instructions for fitting and sewing a plain pant without pockets and with a back invisible zipper as well as sewing trouser pockets and a fly front. For a teacher near you, see our certified teachers on our website or sign up for a 4-day intense pant fitting and sewing workshop in Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, and Michigan.
These semi-fitted, tapered pants have a waistband, side front pockets and a front mock fly zipper. Instructions are also given for an optional invisible back zipper and for eliminating pockets. Designed for medium-weight wovens,
All sizes from 8 to 24W are in one pattern.
